Pat Sziber Clean water proponents in both the House and Senate introduced legislation that would give federal protections for millions of acres of wetlands that provide crucial habitat for birds and other wildlife. Referred to as the Clean Water Authority Restoration Act, the measure seeks to remedy a 2001 Supreme Court decision that removed federal protection for so-called "isolated" wetlands across the United States. It would reinstate protections for isolated wetlands that can help with flood control, filter pollutants from water and provide habitat for birds.
