WCAS has released its report on the flora and fauna of the former AT&T property known as the Pole Farm, which was purchased a few years ago to be part of Mercer County Park Northwest in Lawrence and Hopewell Townships. The report is based on a biological survey done over a period of many months by Audubon society members and other volunteers.

The survey revealed over 430 species of animals and plants, including three animal species listed as threatened by the New Jersey Division of Fish, Game and Wildlife and an additional two animal species and one plant species listed as of special concern by the New Jersey Natural Heritage Program. The report identifies types of habitats on the property and includes tables specifically listing the plants, birds, mammals, reptiles, amphibians, fish, moths, and butterflies found during the survey.

In its recommendations, WCAS asks the County to minimize development of the property for active recreation, leaving much of it for passive recreation, farming and wildlife habitat.

Copies of the report are available for public review at the Lawrence and Hopewell Township branches of the Mercer County Public Library. The report is also available on this website.
