- 71 species of shorebirds have occurred in Alaska.
- 46 species have been documented breeding in Alaska.
- 40 of those species nest nowhere else in the U.S.
- Alaska hosts 100% of the western hemispheric populations of the Pacific golden plover, bar-tailed godwit, western sandpiper and red knot.
