Get Ready for the Great Backyard Bird Count!
Pat Sziber

That's right, it's time to start planning for the next Great Backyard Bird Count, February 15-18, 2002. Last year's event gathered over 50,000 reports from every U.S. State and Canadian Province.

This special event, designed for backyard birders, provides a "snapshot" of winter bird activity, which yields important data that scientists use to track population numbers. And anyone who knows their feeder birds gets to be a citizen scientist. It's fun and requires just a minimal time investment over the four-day period, as little as fifteen minutes a day.

Find out more about Great Backyard Bird Count and how to participate at www.birdsource.org. Data is entered on the website. If you do not have web access at home, your local library can help you. If that isn't possible, request forms and instructions by writing to GBBC, c/o Pat Sziber, 19 Wildwood Way, Titusville, NJ 08560 and we will enter your data for you.
