Birdathon 2014 was a great success! Thanks to all of the teams and individuals who headed out into the field on Saturday, May 10th to identify birds for our one, big fundraiser of the year! It turned out to be a spectacular day for migrating birds, with 23 species of warblers and a final day's total of 169 bird species identified. Special thanks to Charles Brine, WCAS member, who recorded 149 species during his annual Big Day trek across the state for Birdathon! This year for the first time WCAS offered guided bird walks at 3 different local migrant "hot spot" locations: Princeton Institute Woods (Winnie and Fred Spar), the Mercer Meadows Pole Farm (Fairfax Hutter and Andrew Bobe) and Baldpate Mountain (Tyler Christensen). We thank our leaders for their time and expertise, sharing their knowledge of the sites, and help with birdsong and bird species identification. Lastly, we thank all of our friends and members who spread the word, solicited donations and sent in donation checks. We have $5,217 so far. Your support of all that WCAS does is greatly appreciated. We look forward to you joining us in the field and your support for next year's Birdathon! You can still donate to WCAS for Birdathon or just to support our other work: WCAS is now accepting donations onlinethrough Network for Good Please include notation "Birdathon 2014"
or make your check payable to WCAS
and mail it to WCAS, PO. Box 112, Pennington, NJ 08534-0112.
