It is not too late to sign up for the 1998-99 Project FeederWatch. Watch and count birds at your feeder for a few hours every two weeks for fun and science. The project starts in late November, but you can jump in a bit late and still have your data entered. To expedite receipt of your FeederWatch kit, call the Cornell Lab of Ornithology at (800) 843-BIRD and have your credit card handy. The fee is $15.00 for non-Lab members. FeederWatch is a joint project of Cornell Lab of Ornithology and National Audubon. Check out their website at www.birdsource.org/pfw/.

The 2nd Annual Great Backyard Bird Count will take place from February 19-22, 1999. Again Cornell and National Audubon are the cosponsors. Anyone can participate anywhere. Just count birds, then log onto the Cornell website.

Finally, just in time for the holiday, there is the annual Christmas Bird Count. See the Cornell site for more info and last year's summary. To participate in the WCAS effort, call Lou Beck at (609) 737-0070; but call soon so Lou can get his groups set.
